Ritz Craft Homes has definitely become one of my all-time favorite modular home builders! I love the fact that they offer a wide range of floor plans and their quality and craftsmanship is second to none! One of their newer designs, that I finally had the opportunity to tour, is called the “Jacobs Creek”. While I was in Michigan, I stopped by Northwood Modular Homes in Cass City, Michigan and they just so happened to have this not so little beauty on display!

The “Jacobs Creek” has that chalet style look to it that just makes it hard not to like. It is even harder once you realize how tall the living room ceilings are! The “Jacobs Creek” exterior is the glorious love child of a traditional ranch style home and a mountain chalet! It’s delightful! It has that typical feel overall of a rancher, yet in the middle there is a large gable with three big windows.

This probably doesn’t seem to far outside of the realm of normal. Why would it? Most homes incorporate some type of gable that adds to the overall aesthetics of its exterior design. However, it does very little from a design perspective on the interior. This one, though, does just that, but we will get there in a bit.

This particular model has a light brown vinyl siding and incorporates both board and batten as well as shake siding on the front of the home. Just keep in mind though, siding, fixtures and finishes throughout most homes we showcase can be altered to meet your unique design tastes.

Take for instance this version, I also found in Michigan, with a darker gray and white exterior color. Also, there is a small “country porch” near the doorway that seems to come standard on this home and adds just the right amount of charm.

Continuing around the home, towards the side, there is a door that leads into the back hallway. This is a perfect place to add a garage or car port. On the back side of the home there is also a sliding glass door leading out from the dining room area. Here you can add a porch or patio and enjoy beautiful days soaking up the sun and spending time with friends and family.

Living Room

When you first enter the home, there is a small foyer with a coat closet directly across from the front door. You’ll probably only take a quick glance to recognize its existence before being uncontrollably drawn to the living room, which is sitting just off to the right.

Massive two story vaulted ceilings and large windows, both high and low, define the space. There is plenty of room for any furniture layout you could possibly imagine and the only thing missing, from a personal standpoint is a nice cozy fireplace.

Kitchen

From the living room you enter the kitchen and dining room. In the middle of the kitchen lies a large oversized island with plenty of seating for casual eating and socializing, as well as plenty of space for extra food prep space. On the end closest to the dining room table there is a built in wine rack! I was a little excited about it since it was something different than most islands that are typically in a home.

Past that, the kitchen counter is laid out in an “L” shape, with a smaller pantry on one side and the refrigerator on the other. There is a stove with a built in microwave above it and under the back window is the kitchen sink. Surrounding it all are cabinets and drawers with the uppers extending up to the ceiling.

Dining Room

The dining room sits off to the right of the kitchen and has more than enough space for a large table. There is a very subtle light fixture hanging over the top of the table setting just the right mood for a relaxing dinner. Behind the dining room is a sliding glass door leading out to the back of the home. Again, the perfect spot for a porch o patio or some other form of outdoor living space.

Down the hall next to the dining room, leads to the laundry room. There is enough room for a side by side washer and dryer with a shelf sitting just above. Beyond that, you will come to the side door, with access to either your future garage or carport. Unfortunately the don’t come standard on this model so you will have to either talk to the builder or have it added after the home is built.

Master Suite

The entrance to the master bedroom sits between the dining room and the living room. Measuring in at approximately 12ft 10in X 14ft 0in, it sits towards the front of the house with two large windows and more than enough room for a king size bed and a number of dressers. Towards the back of the bedroom is the walk in closet and its huge! Well, its long! football field comes to mind. But plenty of room for a ton of clothes.

The en-suite sits right next to the walk in closet and has a double vanity with an ample amount of drawers. Opposite the vanity is a water closet separated by a pocket door and has both the toilet and a wall of built in cabinets. At the back of the en-suite is the infinity shower with large over-sized shower head. It is beautifully done with a tile surround and a river stone shower tray.

Secondary Bedrooms and Bathroom

On the opposite side of the house, past the kitchen, are the two secondary bedrooms and the second full bathroom. The full bathroom sits on the right hand side across from the basement door. It has a single vanity and tall built in linen cabinet and a shower and tub combo.

The two secondary bedrooms sit at the end of the hall, with one facing the front of the home and the second facing the rear. They are 12ft 3in X 14ft 0in and 10ft 11in X 11ft 5in respectively. They both have a large windows and nice size step in closets.
